| Sir Charles Shults |
| Wednesday, January 30, 2008 |
I have had a huge response to Sir Charles and his solar electrical generator. To find out more about it go here. To see some video's Sir Charles has put on the web, go here.
I believe that Hillary Clinton will have a very tough time securing the Democratic nomination now that Bill Clinton has insulted the African-American voter bloc. They have also turned off many liberal Democrats. It remains to be seen if they can mend these riffs that they have created. Hillary is also taking a big gamble with her 'Brown Strategy'
Here's a very interesting story about how the conventions this year could be brokered.
Finally a political cartoon for your enjoyment. I showed this to someone about 23 years old and they had no clue what event it referred to. Oh well I guess life goes on unless you're Mary Jo. This one from the NYPost. OUCH!!!! |

| Monday, January 28, 2008 |
Good show today with great input from listeners. Read all about the Kennedy's throwing their support behind Obama here. You got to think this really peeves the Clintons. On top of all that the Rev. Al Sharton basically told the Former President to sit down and shut up. Check that our here.
My thanks to Bill and Kay of Arkansas Records and CD Exchange for staying on the air two hours taking calls from listeners and giving them a great idea what their treasured item was worth. By the way here's their website. Stop by and see them soon.
Tuesday be sure to catch the 3 o'clock hour of the show Sir Charles Schults will be on to talk all things alternative energy, and how he's working to bring sustainable energy to the every mans home. Talk to you Tuesday.

| The Reaction Blog Week That Was…Ending 1/25/08 |
| Saturday, January 26, 2008 |
Thanks to everyone who took a little time out of their day to stop by the Reaction Blog! Believe it or not, the blog is growing, traffic is growing, and the feedback is, as always insightful and to the point (we do brag about having the smartest audience at KARN Newsradio).
A lot of traffic have come looking for info on one of Dave Elwick’s big topics over the past few weeks, The Flat Belly Diet. Elwick also brought in the traffic and comments when he blogged on poverty in America.
Plenty of folks came by to get information on LIHEAP and listen to the podcast Audio On-Demand On-Demand Audio playback of Bob Steel’s interview with Teresa Carver & Rose Adams.
And of course, I put up a new blog template that actually works. To bad it’s ugly as sin (I really am trying folks…honest!).
Plus, much love to go out to the guys at The Citizens Journal, a blog that had added us to there blog roll, and sent us a little traffic over the past 7 days.
Thanks again to all out listeners on the radio, Streaming on the internet, and checking in on the blog. Keep on keeping the conversations going folks.Labels: Bob Steel, Dave Elswick, KARN Newsradio, On-Demand Audio, The Citizens Journal |

| LIHEAP Interview From This Morning's First News |
| Thursday, January 24, 2008 |
We received plenty of calls and email on this morning's interview with Teresa Carver & Rose Adams on the LIHEAP program to help low income and other people pay their utility bills. To get you all the information that your asking for, contact the Arkansas Community Action Agencies Association either through their website at http://www.acaaa.org/ex or by calling the state main office at (501) 682-8715.
Now for a little bit of program background: LIHEAP stands for Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, and is the nation’s primary tool to help pay energy costs for the elderly, disable, and young children living in poverty, and yet on a national level it serves only about 15 percent of those eligible to receive it.
LIHEAP has injected $15 million into Arkansas communities to help 65,000 households last year. This home-energy assistance is critically important in Arkansas, due to episodes of severe heat and humidity in the summer, and freezing, wet periods in the winter, which can imperial the lives of our at-risk citizens.
If you would like to listen to the interview again, please visit the newly revamp On-Demand Podcasting page.Labels: LIHEAP, On-Demand Podcasting |

| Poverty in America |
| Wednesday, January 23, 2008 |
Here's one of many sources I'll use today talking about poverty in America. Read this very closely and please understand that when we say 'poor Americans' it's not like saying the poor in South America or underdeveloped third world nations in Africa. We're not talking about bloated bellies, lice infested children and sewage running in the streets. Hopefully you'll understand being 'poor' in America perhaps isn't as bad as you've been led to believe. Perhaps the welfare system needs another even more drastic over haul.
I know people will refer to me as the 'most cold hearted bastard in Arkansas' like they always do when I point this stuff out, but would someone please explain to me (after reading this material) why I or you must help other 'poor' families instead of being able to help our own families with the fruits of our labors. Why are our pockets picked for those who for the most part made bad choices (didn't finish school, did drugs, popped a kid) or decided they like getting my and your money instead of earning their own? Rhetorical questions. Yep. We know the answer, its just a scam for politicians to buy votes from those they subsidize so they can keep themselves in power.

Many of you let me know that the last link for the Flat Belly Diet wasn't a whole lot of information and more of a sales tool. I agree. Here's a new link that should answer many of your questions. I'll have one of the authors back on next week and they will take calls from you as well as answer my questions. I'll give you an exact time as soon as I have the show booked.

| Lottery |
|
I told you I would find the N.Y. Times article about lotteries and post it here on the Reaction Blog. Here it is for your enjoyment. Once you've read it, I believe the most telling quote is the one where a lottery official says something to the effect that "we get the legislators the money we don't spend it." I put that here to remind you that if a lottery becomes law then we will have to watch the politicians to make sure it goes for maintaining the lottery, paying out prizes and the rest to scholarships......period. It's We the People that need to hold the pols feet to the fire.
Wednesday.....what is poor in the good ole USA, and Steve 'Wildman' Wilson from the AGFC.

| Political Feedback: Then & Now |
| Monday, January 21, 2008 |
When I was reading The Reagan Diaries, one of the things that stood out like a sore thumb was the idea that people called the White House switchboard after major speeches and announcements to give there opinion. Seems slow and primitive compared to today's standards. Sure, there was some sort of exit polling back then, but apparently not a lot of emphasis was placed on the numbers back then. (at least none of the reporters I spoke to that were actually aware of events of the day could remember)
Today, there are constant exit polls and push polls and straw polls galore, along with message boards and blogs and talk radio to get an instant reaction to whatever is said or misunderstood by an candidate, family member, or flunkie.
Could Reagan have ended the Cold War in the age of the internet? Would Carter have receive the same treatment Houston Nutt did if we had public message boards? Would the Nixon tapes have been leaked to YouTube for millions of daily downloads?
Post a response here (all long as this thing continues to work ***FINGERS CROSSED***), and don't forget to check out the Politics Page at the main site.Labels: politics |

| Listener Request: Do Employers Have To Give You Time Off To Vote? |
| Wednesday, January 16, 2008 |
Katie gave a call into the newsroom yesterday, because apparently, even the listener are believing the hype that I know everything. She had a website/election question, on whether or not there was really a law that your employee had to give you time to vote in an election.
Yes Katie, their is a law dealing with employers & elections! A state law to be exact, and the basics of every state and their laws are listed here. And for all the Arkansas election information you can possibly stand can be found here.
We'll I'll be adding these links to the Politics Page at KARNNewsradio.com website for safe keeping...Labels: politics |

Here's a link to the Rev. Childress and his site Black Genocide. Share the information with all your friends.
Here's the story of the young man in California and his proposed law to drug test all those who apply for welfare.
Last the story of MRSA's and their rapid spread in the homosexual community, and possible spread into the general population.
Wednesdays show has Joe of Joe's Garage in the 3pm hour and Bruce Bartlett talking about the Democrats and their record on civil rights. It will surprise you. In the 2:35 hour we'll talk about the Michigan primary and new life for Mitt Romney.

| Huckabee ad |
| Saturday, January 12, 2008 |
| There have been some problems in linking to the Victim Voices ad that is running in South Carolina concerning Mike Huckabee and the Wayne DuMond clemency. Here's another link that should work. The clemency issue is the biggest bone that sticks in my throat concerning the Former Governor of our state. It is my opinion that you can not call yourself the 'conservatives conservative' if you by choice let cold blooded murderers walk free by reducing their sentence. Whatever your reasoning. Mike Huckabee NEVER explained why he let these thugs out to roam the streets again. I see Huckabee as just a repeat of Micheal Dukakis and Wille Horton. |

| The story that isn't BS |
| Friday, January 11, 2008 |
I got several emails concerning my statement that in California the government wants to control peoples thermostats was a lie. Here's the story for you to read. I know it's hard to believe the government would try this stuff, but we live in a time that our rights are rapidly being eroded. What at one time was unthinkable is now very plausible.

| Government controlled health care |
|
Perhaps you want 'Universal' Health Care, which is really you letting the governemtn control your body. I suggest you do your homework, and you can start your exploration right here with this blog. Take a good hard look at this video. Know that this is not an exception. This kind of thing happens all the time under single payer systems. Also consider, if you only have so much money in the coffers for health care, what happens when the funds start to run low? Answer. Rationed health care, which is no problem unless you're the person they've decided doesn't get a certain medical treatment because you're to old, or perhaps you're not a dad with kids and a wife maybe a powerful political figure or a rich someone who donated a lot of money to the ruling class. Just stuff to really think about when it comes to the government CONTROLLING your health care which means they will CONTROL YOUR body.

| Bio-Fuels, Ethanol and unintended consequences |
| Thursday, January 10, 2008 |
Great article on the unintended consequences of Bio-Fuels. I've argued over the last two years that ethanol and some other bio-fuels take more energy to make then what they deliver to the consumer. It is known that you get fewer miles per tankful of Ethanol or ethanol blend then you do with just plain gas, thus more trips to the pump. The ethanol market would implode if it were not for government subsidies. Lastly, planting all this corn has driven up the prices of soy beans, barley and hops, which in turn has driven up the cost of milk, beef and beer. Seems to me if you want to be green you also have to understand the results of your vision on the markets. Farmers just want to make a decent living. I just wish it could happen without their reliance on the strong hand of the government. Here's a pretty good article on ethanol.

| New Link |
|
If you haven't seen the new Huckabee ad in Michigan then view it here. By the way Hotair.com is a great site to visit daily. John will add it to our list of links on karnnewsradio.com politics sometime today. As for the Huckabee ad, interesting that Huck is now into classism. Far as I'm concerned he's still the best pro-life, pro-gun, Democrat I know. For all you one issue pro-lifers, you'd better understand under the Huckster it will be BIGGER and BIGGER government. Remember what President Ford said (in fact the only reasonable thing he said while President) "If the government is big enough to give you everything it's big enough to take it all away." Huck will continue to add to the juggernaut that's the Federal government, which in the not to distant future will tell you what to do in everything. Just check out California where they're now talking about government controlled thermostats, so they can save energy by controlling the temperatures in business's and homes.

| Iowa Caucus Coverage Right Here |
|
First News with Bob Steel on KARN Newsradio had your Iowa Caucus coverage on par with any of the Network or Cable News Organizations. This morning, Bob Steel got the scoop on the big night from the Chairman of the RNC, Communications Director of the DNC, local politico Skip Rutherford, and a wrap up from the scene from KARK/Channel 4 news anchor Bob Clausen. We've had you covered sense we came back actually, with experts on the caucus and local Iowa political leaders painting the picture for the grand event. Check in a little while as we get the Audio-On-Demand On Demand Audio cut and on line for you.
Bottom line, big win for former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, disappointing third place finish for former Arkansas First Lady/New York Senator Hillary Clinton. The official placing for Democrats was Barack Obama, followed by John Edwards with a second place squeaker win over third place Clinton, and the Republicans bring number one to Huckbee, second to Mitt Romney, with a tie for third between John McCain and Fred Thompson. And its the end of the road for Democratic Senators Joe Biden of Delaware & Chris Dodd of Connecticut.
In a state with about 3 million people, CNN reported historic record turnouts of 220,000 Democrats and 114,000 Republicans. Unfortunately, my Louisiana-grade school education tells me thats still about 11% of the population making a decision for us. You can give your opinion on the outcomes right here in the blog, or do a quick vote on our web poll at karnnewsradio.com, and keep up with all the political action stop by our Politics Page (new stuff coming soon...promise...).
Next stop, New Hampshire for the primary on Tuesday, January 8th. And KARN will have you covered...Labels: First News, Iowa Caucus, KARN Newsradio |
