| Obama |
|
Barack Obama has the answer to our health care crisis. Simple. Take from the kinda rich, give to those who don't have health care. Force business to pay for it and tap you as well. Oh well guess everyone might understand that there's no free lunch.
If you didn't see the USA Today article concerning the Razorbacks here it is for your reading pleasure. This was on the front page, so non-sports fans across America read it as well. 'Darksiders' what do you think the rest of the nation thinks of our state now. Guess you can understand why in Kansas City they refer to this as Deliverance Part 2. Watch that movie, they think you're one of those backwoods hayseeds as well as the rest of the state.
We'll talk about Iran with author Mike Evans again Wednesday in the 3:05pm hour. He's on till 3:30 so call early with your question. Also we'll cover Obama's universal health care and for all you conspiracists we'll look at the President's so called plan to be dictator. See ya Wednesday |

| Memorial Day |
| Monday, May 28, 2007 |
It's Memorial Day. I hope you took a few moments from your BBQ, boating, family fun or what else you may have been doing on this beautiful day and thought for a few moments that literally hundreds of thousands of men and women made your freedom possible. From Bunker Hill, to Bull Run. From the trenches of WW 1 to the mushroom cloud of WW2. From Pork Chop Hill to Saigon, from the first Gulf War to the War on Terror, to the small skirmishes around the globe. Men and women have bled and died for you to be free. It's a true statement "Freedom isn't Free. It's bought with the blood, guts and death of your family, friends and neighbors." God Bless out fighting men and women in uniform and those who now sleep in eternity.
Went to OKC Sunday and Monday. Cheapest gas I saw on the trip 2.95 in Russelville. Most expensive 3.25 in OKC.

| More On Bio Diesel Interview From Yesterday's First News |
|
On yesterday's "First News with Bob Steel," Bob interviews Mike Shook from API on the use of bio diesel to combat the high gas prices, and I immediately had calls for additional question we couldn't get into the five minute window of the interview. So as promised, I got Mike back on the phone and let him expand on the information already given.

| ELSWICK May 22nd |

OK you may not have gotten through today when I was asking for songs that make you think of summer. If you have a song you'd like for us to use as bump music during the summer on KARN, please post in the comments section.
Today PQC JP Allen Kerr was on the show. We talked about the possibility of the PQC joining in on a lawsuit charging those who make cold medicines and allergy medicines using ephedrine with causing the meth problem. Just another example of lawyers looking for a fresh cash stream. 100% of you said we should not in any way have anything to do with that lawsuit. To learn more here's Allen's website.
Here's the scumbag who said he killed, burned and hung people up in a mosque in Iraq. This guy is a pathetic lying sack. Iraq Veterans Against the War, didn't even try to validate this guys story they just put this on their website. View it here For the whole story go here.
And finally for the ultimate disgusting story of the day, check this out. Guess it just another preference huh?

| I'm BACK! |
| Friday, May 18, 2007 |
Hi everyone, Dave Elswick back blogging here on our KARN blog site. Just a couple of things for today. Someone please explain to me how gasoline can jump 15 cents a gallon in under 12 hours time. I understand when a new shipment comes in the station has to make their price such that they can pay for the gas and make a profit, but that's not what's happening. Gas stations are hiking their prices for gas that's all ready in their tanks.
The consumer is getting screwed as the middleman in this extreme gas situation. Refineries say they are having problems, oil companies plead the cost of crude, stations say it's because of what they are charged for the product. Everyone has an excuse and we take it in the shorts.
Did you hear Senator Pryor on KARN yesterday? Paraphrasing what he said when asked about high gas prices, his answer was something on the order of, "there's no short term solution here. We need to raise the mpg of cars our car makers sale, and we need to develop alternative fuels like ethanol. Plus I'll make sure we keep a close eye out for price gouging at the pumps."
Notice the couple of big things he didn't mention? One, how bout drilling in areas we know have oil here in the good old USA. How bout relaxing the Federal regulations for getting new refineries built? How bout telling the refineries they don't need to make all those different blends of gas so that they can produce one in major quantities? He didn't bring any of that up because his party is sold out to the 'greenies'. So of course he only looks at part of the answer and his part is the for the most part more difficult to implement.
Last but not least....GO JERMAIN TAYLOR!!!!!! If you can't make Memphis for the fight it's on HBO Saturday night and gets underway around 9:30pm with the under card.
Talk to you at 2:25pm from the Greek Food Fest.

| 5/10/07 Live Comments: "Dave Elswick Show"/Tonight's Special Little Rock School Board Meeting |
| Thursday, May 10, 2007 |
Day four of the John Payne marathon work week 5 o'clock fill in continues, and trust me, we'll be going out with a wimper when this is all over.
The planned topic was pretty tame: Mother's Day and maybe messy desks. But with tonight's special meeting of the Little Rock School Board with news the Dr Katherine Mitchell will be giving a statement to begin the session...well, we are news talk and this is breaking and a lot more interesting (sorry, Mom...).
If you can't give us a call, please post to us a quick comment. Thanks.Labels: Little Rock School Board |

| Wednesday, May 9, 2007 |
John Payne, sitting in for the last hour of "The Dave Elswick Show" and attempting to get live comments on the blog.
The plan is to talk about technology, and the myths of early adopters and technophobes, but today's Diabetes Radio-thon and the possibility of severe weather may change that.
If you're listening and can get to a computer, leave me a comment anyway... |

| Dave Elswick Big Snake Picture & Recipe |
| Tuesday, May 8, 2007 |

You've heard him bring it up on his show, and this is the big snake picture Dave talked about.
And here is the recipe for DEEP-FRIED RATTLESNAKE
1 medium-sized rattlesnake (3-4 lbs.), cut into steaks 1/2 cup flour 1/4 cup cornmeal 1/4 cup cracker crumbs 1/2 cup milk 1 egg 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (not garlic salt) 1 teaspoon salt Dash pepper
Mix dry ingredients. Whisk milk into beaten egg and use to dip snake steaks. Then coat them with dry ingredients. Fry, uncovered, in 400 degree oil until brown.
Yum,Yum! It sorta tastes like chicken. Labels: Dave Elswick, snakes |

| 5/8/07 Live Comments: "Dave Elswick Show"/Rush Parodies Obama In Song |
|
Welcome back to the KARN Newsradio reaction blog!
We're testing our new blog, and offering all listeners a chance for instant feedback to the issues. Today, we're talking about Rush Limbaugh and his parody song, 'Barack, The Magic Negro,' inspired by the Los Angeles Times opinion piece, 'Obama the 'Magic Negro' by David Ehrenstein.
KOVR-TV/CBS13 in Sacramento did a story on the song, and put a poll on there website asking if the public thought it was racist. Rush blasted the station for not getting the joke, and put a poll on his website asking if the news anchors are morons.
Call me to talk about it, click on post a coment to post your comments! UPDATE:(and just to read comments aparently...this is very much a work in progress...)
Here is the story from the CBS13/CW31 web site: http://cbs13.com/topstories/local_story_127191135.html
